The Blue Goose Papermill Charitable Trust, est. 1989

This is a very exciting story of a bold and courageous journey for a team of papermakers who are intellectually challenged. Nowhere else in NZ is there a working papermill using completely recycled materials, making totally handcrafted products.

The Papermill delivers meaningful work experience for people with intellectual disabilities.

The facilities in Whangarei are available to the public as an educational and tourist attraction. And if you like shopping - then come and see us too - our shop is full of interesting art and paper products - all unique pieces - handmade - here in Whangarei, New Zealand.

We provide:

1. special needs creative training. The programme is customized to individual needs and aimed at building self-esteem and confidence. It teaches team-building, independence and work skills.
2. work experience for school leavers with special needs
3. fun hands-on paper making sessions for community groups & schools.
4. paper making workshops for anyone interested in hand made paper.

By placing the focus on ability, not disability, we build self esteem and confidence in our artists while giving visitors a memorable place to stop.

We currently do have papermaker positions (parttime and fulltime) available, please contact us for further information.
