I made a jellyfish as I was asked to make an abstract piece, and it is not my art I am big on. However, I thought jellyfish, particularly a species called barrel jellyfish could give the appearance of a mushroom. I thought it was a great opportunity to learn more about jellyfish. Did you know barrel are unique as they grow extremely large and can be small too. They are not as toxic as most jellyfish stings. Other names for them are dustbin jellyfish or Rhizostoma pulmo.

Method: I started by using a bowl to create the smooth body of the top of the jellyfish and used foam in the bowl. I used handmade paper to cover it and to make handmade designs. I made tentacles out of toilet rolls and then folded some cardboard and cut them out, and glued them to the toilet paper rolls. I then glued paper to the end of the tentacles and wrapped string around the toilet rolls. I then glued pulp around, and it stuck nicely.

Please let us all look after life in the ocean so we can enjoy the many creatures that live in it.
