Holly by Julia Plant

Description

Say hello to Holly the Flamingo, the peachiest girl in town. I chose a flamingo because I love the colour pink and I found out interesting facts about flamingos. Did you know flamingos are born white or grey and become pink over time because of what they eat? They eat with their beak side down. How hard is that!

Method: I made the body of the flamingo with foam, then covered it in layers of handmade paper in pinks and oranges. I then made mosaic shapes to lay on it. I made the beak and eyes from paper mache and the eyelashes from finely cut black paper. The eyeball is a handmade bead. The legs are wooden sticks covered in handmade pink paper and glue. I added glue all over the legs to make them stronger.
